KODIAK , Alaska
At one time this was a large and going concern; fish processing, cannery, etc. It was operated up to the late 90's. This place is incredible in size.
There is well over 100,000 square feet under roof, and at one time housed over 170 people. Very little would be needed to start up again. There are huge buildings consisting of bunkhouses, apartment style buildings, duplex type buildings, and private homes.
A mess hall with a kitchen facility has the capacity to feed hundreds of people. Walk-in coolers and freezers are inside huge warehouses. Large storage buildings could easily be transformed into other uses.
The buildings are large enough to house several basketball courts, tennis court, raquestball court, bowling alley, archery range or whatever may suit your vision, needs, etc..
A complete self-sufficient machine shop (a Handyman's Dream) with several huge Caterpillar generators, several smaller generators and a Pelton wheel driving a generator with water pressure supplied by a pipeline coming from a high mountain lake. A road from the cannery leads up to the lake (high volume water rights are included)
The buildings are connected by concrete sidewalks, gravel roads, stairways and boardwalks. Running water is supplied throughout the buildings and facilities.
The amount of equipment is staggering, from forklifts to pick-up trucks, kitchen equipment, furniture and fixtures, commercial washer and dryers, hoists, lathe, electric motors, etc.
The land for this site was picked in the early 1900's. No wonder it is such a choice parcel as people certainly had 1st pick of the land with 2,500' mountains behind you rising from sea level, and several smaller islands protect the bay from the north.
In the clear inlet waters you can catch halibut right off the dock with salmon all around you. Sea otters are a constant sight. Whales migrate through the Strait ans shellfish such as crab, shrimp and mussels are in abundance.
